Where is the hemp processed?

Jersey Hemp is processed locally at our headquarters at Warwick Farm, the former States Nursery. We process all our fibre, seed and oil on site using best manufacturing standards.

Is hemp legal?

Under the Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law 1978, hemp is illegal in the Island of Jersey without a licence from the States of Jersey Health and Social Services. IHP Limited is the first company to cultivate hemp under licence from the States of Jersey.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Hemp is the common name for all plants in the genus Cannabis. Three species have been identified Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Ruderalis. Generally, hemp for industrial purposes is Cannabis Sativa which contains indiscernible amounts of the psychoactive compound THC as found in drug- and medical-type cannabis.

Where does the hemp come from?

Jersey Hemp cultivates EU certified varieties of industrial hemp at undisclosed locations throughout the Island of Jersey. All our hemp is grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides and non-organic fertilisers. Approximately 10% of our land is organic certified and we endeavour to use best agricultural practices.

What is industrial hemp?

Industrial hemp is a variety of Cannabis Sativa L. with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content lower than 0.3% per unit of dry weight. Industrial hemp is cultivated for its fibre and seeds which have a variety of end uses from building materials, textiles, hempseed oil and hempseed protein. Non-psychoactive cannabinoids (i.e. cannabidiol [CBD]) exist in industrial hemp and may be extracted from the leaves and flowers for use in nutritional and dietary supplements.
